The region boasts mineral rich soil and a Mediterranean climate which lends itself to the ideal conditions to grow top quality olives. These olives are handpicked fresh from the trees. They are then washed and graded before entering a curing process. Slow-fermentation takes place over a period of nine months during which sugars are converted to lactic acid, giving the olive its characteristic pickled flavour. Once fermentation is complete the olives are packed in light brine in a uniquely freestanding pouch.

Four main cultivars Mission, Manzanilla, Barouni and Kalamata are produced under the management of John Schrimgeour and his farm team.

Buffet Olives is unique due to the fact that they have a processing facility on the farm that allows them to monitor quality from the tree to the packaged product. The annual Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival is one of South Africa’s most popular festivals with huge appeal for sports lovers, families and those in search of a great party. Go4word was proud to be involved in the City of Cape Town, in partnership with SAFA Cape Town and the Western Cape Government will be hosting the 8 Nation under 20 International Football Challenge.

The tournament took place from the 25 May – 03 June 2012 at both the Athlone and Cape Town Stadiums. The tournament also utilised various practise venues throughout the City.

The bi-annual tournament was also being hosted for the second time, after a successful inauguration tournament in 2010, prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

The football tournament was a welcome addition to the City’s calendar of major sports events which currently include the Pick ‘n Pay/ Cape Argus Cycle Tour and Old Mutual Town Oceans marathon.

All of these sports tournaments are hosted in line with the City of Cape Towns administration’s goal of  establishing Cape Town as the events capital of the continent.  This competition was a springboard for many youngsters, both local and international, to launch their successful professional football careers.

The event was attended by local football fans who came and supported the matches to watch first hand the next generation of football superstars compete for the championship. Some of the youngsters in this tournament went on to represent their countries in future international competitions.

In support of the City’s volunteer programme, the City also made use of 150 dedicated volunteers who assisted in the efficient and coordinated success of the event. The City’s successful volunteer programme is designed to foster the ideals of volunteerism within the respective communities.

Go4word was very excited to be part of the Cameraland “Be Inspired” event that was recently hosted in the Mother City of Cape Town, South Africa. The Cameraland “Be Inspired” event is centered around capturing the thoughts of Cape Town’s creative elite. The event features a gathering of both professional and amateur photographers who shared images, opinions and experiences of how copyright affects the photographic industry at large.
Cameraland hosted some of Cape Town’s professional and up-and-coming photographers for a couch conversation on ‘copyright’ at their monthly April 30th ‘Be Inspired’ evening on their rooftop terrace.

Guest speaker for the evening was copyright guru, Deryck van Steenderen, who was joined on the couch by photographers Angie Lazaro, Wikus De Wet, Inge Prins and Sipho Mpongo. Deryck gave a brief overview on copyright law in South Africa and highlighted several points artists need to be aware of when copyrighting their work. This presentation, along with the four photographer’s personal experiences and issues with copyright made for insightful conversation.
